The Regency of Regent Chinese Cusine

I was fortunate enough to be invited to this magnificent restaurant, The Regent Chinese Cuisine restaurant in Mont Kiara. There's quite a lot of positive reviews about this restaurant and you need to book ahead to get a place. Tatler has rated this restaurant as one of the top restaurants for consecutive years and I can understand why.

My host was gracious to order some of their signature dishes and I must say it did not disappoint at all. Honestly, I can see why Tatler keep naming this place as one of the Top Restaurants to dine in.

For starters we ordered the Deep Fried Fish Skin with Calamari and Deep Fried Pork Intestine. Although I am not a fan of intestines, it was so crispy and crunchy. The first bite leaves you wanting for more. The Fish Skin was crispy as well bends well with the Calamari, which was cooked just right, no chewiness whatsoever.
For the main course, we had the "Makcho" Chicken (the chicken is fed with a special kind of feed), Pig Intestines Pepper soup, Steam Sultan Fish, Fried Prawns and Black Fungus with Kai Lan
Pig Intestines Pepper Soup - This soup is not the traditional pepper soup that you get in most chinese restaurant. It was cooked with a twist, with salted vegetables, black fungus, red dates and a few other ingredients. The peppery taste was not overpowering and gave a nice taste of pepper with a slight sweetness and a tinge of saltiness to it. A blend of ying and yang to the soup and I now look at this soup dish in a whole new dimension of taste.

Makcho Chicken - This dish may look like your ordinary chicken dish that you find in your chicken rice stall in a Kopitiam. Make no mistake, the chickens are fed with a special kind of feed in the farms. This gives the meat a special smoothness and softness so much so it just melts in your mouth. We ordered the broiled chicken and the combination of their own secret recipe of chilli sauce with ginger made the dish even better. Highly recommended dish
Steam Sultan Fish - One of the best fish dishes I have ever had. Firstly, the restaurant mentions that the fish is not farmed and whatever the catch of that day is sent to the restaurant, that's it. Some fish dishes need to be ordered in advance. The dish was perfectly steamed, and the meat was smooth. The sauce that goes with the fish was yummilicious... couldn't get enough of this dish. Another highly recommended dish
Deep Fried Prawns - Another delicious dish that I would highly recommend. The prawns were quite big in size, slightly bigger than palm size, it was very fresh, the meat was not mushy or soft but rather firm. The dish was cooked perfect with some garlicky and slight salty tinge to it. I am a big fan of prawns, and this dish was just heavenly.

Stir Fried Kai Lan with Black Fungus - Meals are never complete without a vegetable dish. This is the first time I am trying Kai Lan with Black Fungus. It gives a twist to the taste of this vegetable dish. Normally, when you order a Kai Lan dish, its either just plain stir fried or with a meat. The Kai Lan was tender with some crunch to the stem and the black fungus was cooked perfectly.
Overall, I enjoyed my meals at the restaurant very much. I can see why it has been consistently named one of the top restaurants by Tatler.

A word of caution - This restaurant is one that you order the best food and don't ask about the price, because you cannot put a price to amazing, yummilicious food.
