A Bukit Mertajam Gem in Klang Valley

Since opening its doors in 2006 in Bukit Mertajam, BM Yam Rice has slowly found its way into Klang Valley. The first outlet was in Publika and subsequently another in Bandar Mahkota in Cheras, a third in Ara Damansara. This restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide as well (for the Bukit Mertajam restaurant).
I visited the Ara Damansara outlet, a relatively new restaurant, just opened about 3 months. The decor is quite simple, elegant with old reminiscent of the past and semi air-conditioned (cool air blowers)
Something old.... Something new.... A blast from the past fills the decor of BM Yam Rice.

There is a wide offering of dishes available, both Yam Rice and Noodles are accompanied by pork dishes cooked in various ways. They have ala carte dishes on the menu too. They serve breakfast as well

We had the yam rice set, it comes with the meat of your selection, soup (if you ordered the stew trotters) and a side dish of egg and taufu pok in sauce (bean curd). we decided to order one set of pork mix in soup, various cuts of pork meat and pork ball while the other was stew pig trotters' meat.
Yam Rice with dashes of yam paste and side dish of egg and taufu pok

Sliced pork meat in soup and stew pig trotter and meat.

The meats were juicy and tender, full of flavor and delicious. The yam rice was flavourful with yam taste and dried shrimps while the side dish was cooked just right, not too salty.

Overall, it was well worth the visit and the food did not disappoint. Price wise, it was worth the value at RM18 per set.

Perhaps my next visit will be to try the main outlet in Bukit Mertajam.
