Tucked away in Taipan Damansara 2, Ara Damansara is a relatively new cafe called Happy Chef. There's another place in Phileo Damansara with the same name when you try to google this place. Just make your way to the one in Ara Damansara.
This place will be good for families too, they have a little corner where kids can pick out books to read or toys to play with while waiting for their meals. A good time to bond families instead of getting glued on iPads, smart phones, tablets etc.
Ordering is via a QR code on the table, and they offer a good variety of meals to choose from. We had the Wat Tan Hor, Lala Noodles, Sin Chow Mai or Singapore noodles and Kung Po Chicken with rice.
The Wat Tan Hor was generous in portion and flavourful in taste. It had a generous amount of vegetables, meat and fish cake. Not too salty as well
Again, the Lala Noodles portion was generous, and a good amount of Lala topped with meat balls. The broth was good, not too salty or fishy in taste, but I found it lacked the flavour of Chinese wine. Most of the Lala came intact with meat and fortunately, there were no empty shells.
The Kung Po Chicken is probably one of the best dishes. The portion is good enough for 2 persons. However, a bit less gravy and some vegetable to go with the rice will be ideal. The dish is not too spicy or overly powered by the ginger and onion. The taste is flavourful with the right amount of dry chillis. 👍👍👍
The Sin Chow Mai is quite good too, but I found it a bit too dry. The sambal that came with it was super-duper, a delicious accompaniment to the noodles. There is a generous amount of vegetables, meat and prawns. Although a bit dry for me but the flavour and taste made up for it.Overall, Happy Chef is a good place to dine in, simple decor, good vibes and the price is affordable for a cafe setting.
