Tucked away in one corner of Sg. Way New Village is a restaurant that serves amazing home cooked food. I have always associated Sg. Way New Village with the famous Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh. Hence, this is a good change for me, another Hole In The Wall Restaurant.
Located at the corner of Jalan SS 9A/12 and SS 9A/2, this restaurant is famous for Char Siew, Siew Yok, Steam Fish and Steam Chicken. There are other dishes you can order as well.
The main entrance.
We decided to go early as this place can get quite crowded during lunch hour. Parking is also limited but if you don't mind walking a bit there is a big parking area close by. Seating within the restaurant is limited and they are closed on Tuesdays.
For our lunch we ordered, the Char Siew, Siew Yok, Steam Kampung Chicken, Tofu and kangkung.
The Kampung Chicken was cooked perfectly and not too tough. Meat was juicy and came with spicy chilli sauce. We ordered a half portion chicken. The Char Siew and Siew Yok (Pic below) were delicious. The Char Siew was a mix of fatty and lean meat, it just melts in your mouth the minute you taste it. The Siew Yok was not too salty, and the meat was just right, not too tough and quite flavorful.
The Tofu dish was yummilicious too; however, I found the tofu pieces a bit too big for my liking, it would be better if the pieces were cut smaller. Surprisingly the garlic fried kangkung came with prawns and well-cooked as well.
The restaurant also serves desserts in the form of "chin tui" or known as sesame balls. The filling was generous and not overly sweet. Good size balls too.
