Santai in Lukut, Port Dickson

Looking at the beautiful weather, I decided to make a trip to Lukut, a small town in Negeri Sembilan just before reaching Port Dickson. As usual in all my santai trips, I took the road less travelled, this time through the country roads via Sepang.

Along the way, just before we reached Lukut, we came across some dragon fruit farms. Fortunately for us it was the right timing, fruit season!!!😁😁😁. The seller, an elderly lady shared with us some secrets about dragon fruit.... something I never knew. The nice red color ones we get in the supermarket are all harvested in advance to make it look beautiful but not necessarily sweet. She then showed us which are the sweet one.....the not so pretty ones!!! and true enough, they were sweet and flavorful.

After a brief stop and some purchases, we headed off to Lukut, first stop is the old fort and the museum.

The museum is not very big but it has  some interesting facts about the town. One such fact is that Lukut used to be under Selangor territory and was a prosperous mining town, some of the tin mine lakes still exist today.
The museum opens everyday from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm and entrance is free.

The site where the museum sits used to be the palace grounds but all you can see at this place are some stone walls only.

For lunch, I had originally wanted to try a seafood restaurant in the fishing village but unfortunately they were closed during lunch time and we opted for a hawker center nearby.

After lunch we headed off to the Royal Malaysian Army Museum. To my dismay, it was closed but the personnel in charged was kind enough to allow us to walk around the outdoor exhibition area. This museum opens from Thursdays to Sunday only and from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm

On our way back, we decided to stopover in Kajang for some satay. Originally we wanted to try a stall that sells pork satay but unfortunately we couldn't find the stall and we ended up at the famous Hj Samuri. Although the food is still good but the prices have gone by about 30%.

Overall a good day trip to Lukut and I will return to PD to visit the Army Museum and probably head onwards to Malacca for an overnight stay
