Bukit Denai Alam Hiking

I am finally back to my hiking days....after a week of food and golf binge with some friends from overseas. I headed off to try a new trail - The Denai Alam trail.
Another beautiful Mirror Lake in Shah Alam

The Denai Alam trail actually sits on private land, a palm oil plantation owned by a major plantation and property company. Although this trail is listed on some of the trail apps, it will be gone once this place gets developed (already underway)

The trailhead starts at the end of Persiaran Neutron in Denai Alam. This is a dead end road and you can park your car by the road side (for now) as there are no traffic passing through this part. From the trailhead, you can walk along a dirt road for about 5 minutes and you will reach the Tri - Jelah Lake. It's an easy walk

The trail is generally flat all the way to the lake and you will come across an Indian temple next to the lake. According to the caretaker, this temple has been here since before the war and was built for the plantation workers.

From the Indian temple, there are several trails you can choose to follow. As a guide, make sure you have one of the trail apps e.g. AllTrails, Komoot, Wikiloc etc to guide you. Since this is a palm oil plantation there are many trails created by plantation workers in the past and you can get lost in some of these trails.

We decided to take the trail after the Indian temple with a loop around and back to the the lake. Basically this is a very easy trail with some gentle slopes  up and down plus the trail is quite clear. About 30 minutes in to our walk we came across a hill that's being cleared. We hiked up the partially cleared trail for a look see
As far as the eye can see looking towards SACF

Came back down and continued our hike till we came across this interesting tree vine, a tree growing on another tree. There are a few of such trees in this plantation.

About an hour in to our hike, the trail led us to some cleared area where earthworks were ongoing. The land has been cleared and is being filled for development. From here on the trail on my trusted AllTrails app became very useful
Land being cleared

We had to maneuver around the cleared site to rejoin our trail. Halfway through, we ended up on another trail and had to rely on my hiking app to rejoin the existing trail and finally managed to get back on track. We got back to the lake and to our car safely.

Overall this is a very easy trail to hike, a beginner's beginner trail. All you need is stamina and lots of water if you want to do a long hike as some parts are open trail.
We took about 2 hours to complete 8 km, a loop around the lake.
