In continuance of our Penang Hiking Trip, visiting and trying out some foodie places was one of the key highlights. Our first stop for breakfast was at Bidor Food Court, our must try foodie stop was the Herbal Duck Noodles.
The famous Bidor herbal duck noodles
Located just after the toll turn off, you will see the Bidor Food Court. There's plenty of parking space. The food came quite fast. The noodles were cooked right, not too soft and was tangy. I love the soup as it was full of herbal flavor, not too oily nor salty and the duck meat just fall off the bone. As compared to the original duck noodles in the main town area, this stall serves better duck noodles
Our next stop was Kampar, the iconic sitting down chef frying his Chow Kueh Tiow or as we fondly call it CKT. Located inside the food court next to Kampar market, the stall owner has been doing his thing for a few decades. Using charcoal instead of gas, you can smell the wok hei aroma as you smell your way to find this stall. Unfortunately, the waiting time was too long and we had to give it a miss......😖😖😖😖
At the entrance of the food court, you can see vendors selling snacks from yesteryears.... something that is now a priceless find and perhaps only in many smaller towns.

Since we couldn't get our CKT snack, we opted to try some ice kacang to cool ourselves from the burning heat from the sun. While hunting along the streets of Kampar, we accidently came across this shop that sells Curry Chicken Bread, a huge bread that can easily feed 4 to 5 persons....😱😱😱😱
The curry chicken bread from Kam Ling Restaurant
Game for a new foodie experiment, we decided to get one to take to Penang for dinner!! And our verdict was...... soft in the bread, tasty in the curry.
The curry is wrapped in a baking paper inside the bread. The curry was not too spicy and suited some of our palate, tastily cooked the non Indian or Malay curry way. The bread was soft despite heating it again for dinner. Will buy again when I come by Kampar.
We finally found a stall that sells Ice kacang, a very local dessert with ice shavings and some condiments and flavored sweet juices. I'll give a score of high credit....still yet to achieve distinction!!
