When a trip to Gunung Angsi came up, I immediately took the opportunity to try since I heard so much about this mountain. This is my first trip up Gunung Angsi and I'm sure it won't be the last
As you get closer to the peak you will come across this amazing vine where I aptly call it "Lord of The Angsi Rings". This is definitely an Instagram opportunity and the vine is strong enough to take the weight of any person. We spent a good amount of time here capturing our moments on this vine, posing with every imaginable and unimaginable way possible to get the best shot.
This short stretch of climbing takes about 10 mins and you'll arrive at the peak of Gunung Angsi. There's plenty of space at the peak and even a proper built shade for you to rest.
Since the Ulu Bendul trail is closed to public, I took the Bukit Putus trail instead. I was told this is an easier and shorter route as compared to the Ulu Bendul trail, which is good 😁😁😁
The journey from PJ took about one and half hours and since it's an early drive, traffic was light and very clear. We took a wrong turn initially (Thanks to Google Maps!!!) but eventually found our way to the starting point.
There's car parking facilities opposite the trail head but very limited. Being a weekday, we had no problems with parking
The office counter (left) with the rates shown. It's RM 5.00 per person for permit fees and the car parking space and entrance gate(below)
Once we sorted out the formalities, we were ready for our climb. The starting will get you climbing up several flight of stairs before you hit the dirt trail and it's up....up....up for about 30 mins to 45 mins depending on your stamina. There are ropes at some parts of the trail to help you climb up and most parts of the trial are exposed tree roots and can get quite slippery and muddy (it must have rained the day before)
The starting point where you climb up several flight of stairs before reaching the trail (above) and (below) the steep trail from start with exposed tree roots due to erosion caused by the weather
After a strenuous meandering through the tree roots and muddy trail, you will reach the first rest stop, a much needed one for those who are not fit!! You can catch a quick rest to recover and load up your H2O
From here onwards, the trail gets easier as it's mostly flat with a few intermittent slopes to climb but they're easy and not steep as compared to the initial ones. You will come to the next rest stop after hiking for about 45 mins.
Second Rest Stop
Throughout our journey, we were accompanied by a stray dog all the way to the peak, I guess the dog must be a regular guide. And we started naming the dog Snowy, Snow White, Doggy, Doggo, 😂😂😂
Along the route we came across many interesting floral, fauna and insects as well. and at one of the points we managed to get a glimpse of Senawang Town
The view of Senawang Town
You know you're near the peak when you start to approach another slope albeit easier and not as steep as the starting ones
The Last Mile, final stretch before reaching the Peak
Overall, this is quite an easy hike and very suitable for beginners, the trail is very clear and wide, you will not be able to get lost. It took us about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete the hike including all the rest stops and photo shoots.
After descending, there are toilets and taps available at the entrance, just perfect for cleaning after a long enjoyable hike. Like all my other hikes, we were truly blessed with perfect weather for our hiking adventure.
