Bukit Baginda, Wave Rock & Jeram Tengkek

Our original plan was to hike up Gunung Buah in Genting. However with the wet weather forecasted we decided to change our destination and headed to Bukit Baginda followed by Jeram Tengkek.... It was the right decision!!!

And another early morning rise, we left Klang Valley around 6.00 am and headed towards Kuala Pilah and onwards to Kg. Majau. The drive was quite pleasant until you turn off the main trunk roads to village roads, narrow and winding at some stretches and had to skillfully manoeuvre to avoid the cow dungs!!!! 😁😁😁😁
The unique Wave Rock formation at Bukit Baginda

The trailhead is located just beside the road and next to it, there's a small open space to park your car.

The start of the trail cuts through a private rubber plantation and it's infested with aggressive blood sucking mosquitos that are immune to my repellent!!! The initial hike is quite easy, a gradual uphill walk with lots of flat terrains in between. Half way in to your hike you will come across a fork road, continue straight and do not go left (Not sure where it will lead to)
Keep straight

It takes about 30 mins at casual pace to reach the first rock outcrop. This is where the "so-called" grave is located under a huge rock. At this point we are still on private land and we met the owner. After some pleasant exchanges and paying our "toll charges" the owner was kind enough to show us around and took us to see a unique rock formation inside a cave (only known to him).

Another cave with interesting rock features and wave like surface

From this point onwards, it's an up hill climb all the way. In total there are 8 check points (or CP) along the trail. At the rock outcrop, it's the start of CP2. we made our way up through some steep slopes and thankfully there were ropes to help pull ourselves up. This is an interesting trail to hike as you can come across different rock formation, flora and fauna and even giant centipedes.

We took a little longer than the usual time required to reach the peak, 2.5 hrs!!! 😎😎😎partly due to all the photography and a side tour of a new cave to explore.

Some of the steep climbs that you will need to endure

The last leg to climb before reaching the peak, ropes available to assist

There's no view at the peak and moreover the space is not very large. We did a 5 minutes stop at the peak as the intention was to go to the wave rock
From the peak there are sufficient directional signs to show you where to go, you will come across another huge rock called Batu Yam Tuan Hitam (and it's not black) and just around the corner is the interesting wave rock

It's only a 5 minute walk from the peak to the wave rock

The huge Wave Rock

We spent quite a fair bit of time at the wave rock and had our lunch here as well, since it was a weekday, we had the whole place to ourselves!!!

At the back of the wave rock, there are ropes to help you climb up to the top and I was hoping to get a view of the surrounding areas but alas....none either. Though a short climb but not an easy one as its quite steep.
Climbing up Wave Rock

The journey down back to the car park took about 1 hour, albeit a tiring one. Overall, it was a good morning out, though it threatened to rain initially but thankfully the weather held up

A good trail for advance beginners as it's a moderately difficult trail. Like all the trails that I've done, stamina, endurance and a passion for hiking is a key factor

From the car park, we headed on to Jeram Tengkek, a waterfall located about 15 minutes drive from Bukit Baginda. We came here to wash and refresh ourselves after the good sweaty workout at Bukit Baginda. Thankfully, the place was not crowded, the water was cool and refreshing with a welcomed hydro massage to our tiring limbs.

And here's one of the reasons why I always go hiking.......
Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mysteries why we climb
