Gunung Unyang @Kanching.....Climb of a life time

So....here I was trying to tackle another challenge in my life...climbing G. Unyang, a 730m hill at Kanching Eco Forest. The initial start was already a small test of your endurance, climbing up concrete stairs to the start of the trail but compensated by some beautiful waterfalls along the way.

Entire stretch up and down is probably 10 km or more and will take you about 3 to 3.5 hrs with all the rest stops etc. Certain parts of the route is quite steep and you will need to use your entire body, hands, feet and whatever limbs you have or energy to climb. However, you will be rewarded with some beautiful floral and fauna

Beautiful mushrooms and fungus along the way to G Unyang.

Midway to the top there is a small look-out point where you can see the skyline of KL and Anak Takun. Unfortunately it was not a clear day and could only see bits of KL Tower and KLCC. Certain parts of the trail was quite slippery and I slipped a few times landing on my butt!!! Ouch !!!

Not a clear day.....😞😞😞😞 But still it was good for a short rest after all the climbing but the worse is not over yet.... further up the hill we came across another rest area and this is what climbers call... "The False Peak" !!!! 😜😜😜😜
False Peak

From thereon its still another 30 - 45 mins depending on your pace and fitness level. It's downhill for a while and up again to the peak of G. Unyang.......And finally made it to the top of G Unyang
 The Ultimate Goal !!!

Overall a good and well deserved climb and on the return, do stop by the waterfalls to enjoy the cool natural spa splashing against your body.

Tips: Make sure you are physically and mentally fit for the climb
Bring plenty of water and some food, you'll need the energy and to rehydrate
Take your time to climb and don't rush
Wear proper clothing & hiking shoes, carry a hiking pole and be prepared to get dirty if necessary.
Bring extra clothing to change even if you don't plan to go to the waterfalls
