A busy Weekend

It was a busy weekend, decided to take a break from my hiking adventures. Did some gardening, rearrange some pots here and there and decided to pop down to KL, Petaling Street to be precise, to see what damage the pandemic has done to the vibrancy of this place.
First stop was to buy some noodles at one of the lanes, a few decade old noodle making shop, now run and managed by the extended family,
This shop has been existing from the longest of time and is still there producing different variety of noodles. We usually get our fresh noodles from here. Located off the road where Koon Kee Wan Ton Noodles is situated. You can see some food stalls at the entrance and just walk a bit further in and lo and behold...

Petaling Street was rather quiet and lack the vibrancy and crowd it usually is....and all this is on a weekend. Most stalls were closed and only a handful were open, the good part is the road is clear of most stalls and you can walk peacefully.
First food stop is the famous chee cheong fun right at the cross road of Petaling Street (where the famous Hokkien mee sits)

This is a road side stall but there is enough sitting space. The texture of the CCF was smooth and the owner uses red sauce instead of the usual brown sauce. Good and delicious. This is another few decade old business now taken over by the next generation of family

My hunger pangs just started and I had this urge to try another few decade old stall located a few meters from the CCF stall. The owner still runs his stall

The kuih kacang is still as good as before and the coconut apam was equally good. I guess the "sifu" never lost his skills after all these years. Hate to see this stall disappear in the new future....

Continuing my food journey, I stumble on this stall that sells keropok like with prawns...Super delicious and crunchy...the chilli sauce was superb as well.
We had it cut to bite size for easy consumption. Worth the meal !!!!

The Mata Kuching stall is still in business but did not have a go. Decided on some other beverage after all the munching

Instead I had soya bean drink for a change. This guy has been around for a while as well. Had a quick chat with him and business has slowed down tremendously, now relying mostly on locals to survive. Fortunately, the inter district restriction was lifted and he gets by.
Another few decade old stall that survived is the "siew ngap" or roasted duck stall...still drawing the local crowd

I decided to have a look at Central Market, just to see what was happening in this iconic famous destination.... I am lost for words...😱😱😱😱 The pandemic has really hit this place real hard... as quiet as a church mouse and you can count the no. of visitors with both hands. While most stalls are open, there's hardly any one walking around or shopping....It is real sad how badly the pandemic has affected Central Market.
I decided to skip the other places as I was rushing for time to get back.

The following day, I was recommended to try out this place, supposedly serving very delicious nasi lemak, Kedai Kopi Min Ren in Puchong. Their famous stall is the Nasi Lemak Melaka. It comes with a variety of add ons plus they sell nyonya kuihs as well. This is more a morning stall....so to get the best go in the morning instead of lunch (which I did)

Firstly, The coffee was good, with the aroma and oomph taste that you get...typical chinaman kopi at the first sip.
We had curry chicken and curry sotong nasi lemak. I found the rice portion relatively small and lack the coconut aroma that is required for all nasi lemak. That was so lacking, however, the curry chicken nyonya style made up for it. The sotong was relatively delicious as well. One major taste observation is I think the food was loaded with MSG as I felt my throat and thirstyness coming on strongly!!!
The sambal also lack some oomph.... Perhaps I was expecting the typical nasi lemak but again this is Melaka Nasi Lemak.

Overall a good weekend and had some house work that required attention done !!! 😁😁😁😁
